. this is where the heat dome is currently. we have warnings that go from tulsa to kansas city, chicago, st. louis, indianapolis, all of the state of ohio, and in the busy i-95 corridor from richmond through d.c., baltimore, philly, and new york. it's a large area. a lot of metropolitan areas under excessive heat warnings, and that means take it seriously. you don't want to have any problems. look at this morning. it's 83 when you walk out the door in chicago. the humidity levels are getting way up there now in the east. 76, dewpoint is d.c. that's one of the highest in the entire country. that's why it's so oppressive this morning and the heat warnings are in effect. all the humidity in the middle of the country has made its way to the east coast. as far as the heat index goes, as you head outside this morning, it still feels like 90 degrees in d.c. if it feels like 90 now, when we add the sunshine all day long, it will probably feel like 115, possibly as high as 120 later today in a few areas. this forecast high 101 in dallas, 100 in kansas city, 99 in new york. the only relief up her

now it's going to begin to expand. kansas city yesterday was 95. today it's probably going to be a little warmer. we do have heat warnings that are in effect, especially right in the heartland. this is from st. louis to kansas city and down to tulsa. heat advisories are in yellow, and as i mentioned, that's going to expand. today we have a little change in the forecast. the jet stream is getting me active in the middle of the country. this area of low pressure will spark a pretty strong storm during the day today, and we could get some rotation on those storms, that's why we have a moderate risk of severe weather. it's the first time we've had one in a while. this area out here in the dakotas, we could see a few tornadoes later on today, and even minneapolis, fargo, sioux falls, all the way back down through nebraska we could see damaging winds with those storms also. today's forecast, a northern plains, that's the risk with the storm system coming through hot. dallas at 105. everyone on the east coast is similar today to what you dealt with yesterday. that's a look at your nationa

high. heat indexes will be in the dangerous level from minneapolis, all of iowa, kansas city, omaha, st. louis. how hot will it be? kansas city around 9, same for you in st. louis. when you add in oppressive humidity, it's not your typical humidity. ipts much more humid than it should be for this time of year. notice today how hot we'll be on the east coast. new york, 93. d.c., 94. it's not quite as humid yet in the east. later on today, just a heads up to everyone in new england through the great lakes, this area of yellow is slight risk of orange. this area will get cooled off by strong afternoon storms. the biggest threat will be damaging winds. i don't think we'll see tornadoes, hail won't be a problem but gusty winds through the big cities. airport delays are possible. as far as monday's forecast goes, the heat we've talked about, also down along the gulf we'll have thunderstorms, too. we'll take a closer look at some selected cities. you'll be in awe how hot it's going to be at the end of the week. d.c. could be in the 100s three days in a row. he details coming up. >> thanks, bil

everywhere east of kansas city and east of dallas. the higher the number, the more moisture that is in the air. and when we're at 76 in new york, i think -- is new york the highest on the board now? it was washington, d.c., but right now the most humid spot in the whole country is right in new york city and that's why those areas, like d.c. and new york have the highest heat index today. it still feels like 94 in central park as you walk outside to start your morning. 88 in boston. it feels like 93 in d.c. without the sun, and that's only equalled by st. louis there and equalled there in the dallas area. today we have the heat warnings in place, that's well advertised all the way from coastal maine down to iryas of coastal north carolina. and back through the midwest. areas that are getting a break today, from detroit northwards up there michigan, you've cooled off. your humidity levels are a little lower. all of upstate new york and vermont and new hampshire, your humidity levels have dropped too along with our friends from the wisconsin and minnesota area. as far as temperatures go,

thunderstorms will fly once again this afternoon. we're at 78 in kansas city. we're at 83 in dallas to start your morning as you head out the door. on the eastern seaboard, very warm too. there's really no cool air in sight. we've had a big thunderstorm complex pushing down from nebraska overnight, and now it's set up over kansas. it's a good drenching rainfall. nothing too severe. it will cause delays on interstate 70 going across kansas or i-35. just a big complex of wet weather. we'll have to see how much of this holds together by the time it gets to kansas city. if you are in topeka, have your umbrella ready. wichita also, some wet weather early today. as far as the forecast goes, i have my disclaimer up here. isolated afternoon thunderstorms. it looks a lot worse than it is, but for the most part everyone will be warm and a chance of a storm late today. that's a look at your national forecast. now here's a look at the weather outside your window. once again, this looks a lot worse than it will be. most areas will only see a storm or two for maybe 20 or 30 minutes, but, again, the humidi

kansas. i know kansas city, you're dry now, but we've got rain heading your way. tampa, we're dry by i-95 all the way to georgia and maine. it will be later today we'll have to deal with some of the storms. here's a look at the radar in kansas. you've got about a hundred miles here. in wichita, the rain is beginning to topi ta. and in wichita it looks like scattered showers also starting. give it another hour or two and the rain looks like it's going to head your way. it shouldn't be thunderstorms. light cool rain. actually refreshing earlier today. here's your forecast. i had to put a disclaimer on the top of my weather map. if you look at the icon it looks a lot worse than it is, these are the typical afternoon thunderstorms. they're going to be isolated. not everyone's going to get hit. in philly and new york and d.c., all areas down in florida, again, we showed you that rain for kansas city later today you'll have a chance for another storm or two. oklahoma and also texas and as we go into friday, more or less the same thing but i think the concentration is greater here in the mid-

just talking to a friend in kansas city just checking in with their weather and he says it's 97 degrees at this hour. 97. we're not even talking about the humidity there in kansas city. locally, take a look at this from dublin. looking out towards, wow, mount diablo. the visibility is unlimited. air temperature there right now in the upper 70s. the winds have been a little problematic out of the west at 18, gusts to 23. now let's transition to -- this is the transamerica building. looking out towards the city of san francisco, it's blurry but we'll take another view. our camera was up here looking into the clouds. and these clouds are coming in from the west. they are all associated with a deepening marine layer hanging off the coast pushing into the bay. clouds will continue to surge east saturating the bay overnight. so if you are heading out within the next 60 minutes, we have temperatures currently 50s, 60s at the coast. 60s, 70s bayside and 79 degrees in the warmest locations inland. tonight the giants are back in town. it's play ball against the dodgers. game time temperat

heading for the great lakes. we still have heat warnings out there in the orange area near kansas city and near tulsa. we have heat advisories from chicago to minneapolis and all of wisconsin here in areas of yellow. also our friends in phoenix and tucson will be very hot today. today's forecast temperature-wise, areas in red are all above 90 degrees. you notice it heads to northern wisconsin. your first real blast of heat you have seen, 97 today in chicago. 98 in kansas city. there will be a little bit of humidity in the air too. that's where it gets a little dangerous. of course, we're still in the hundreds and portions of texas and 113 today in phoenix. still having gorgeous weather in flubd, but this heat will slide your way for the upcoming weekend. it won't be unbearable, but it will be aware of warmer conditions in the south and east. as far as today's forecast is areas of green is where we have scattered storms along the gulf. in the northern plains, i just showed you the radar with the rain already in the dakotas. that's where showers and storms will continue. also minnesota later
